For Hire

We don’t just make our own incredible films – we can make your next project amazing as well.  The Soul Fabric Films crew is available for freelance work on all types of projects demanding video content. Give us a call at 720.334.7685 or drop us an email to talk shop. Our rates are negotiable depending on your needs, budget and nature of your project.

Here’s a short list of our gear:
• Sony EX3 XDcam EX HD Camera with more media cards than you would want to shoot in a day.
• All the important accessories for the EX3 – matte boxes, filters, tripods, shoulder mounts and enough velcro to hold everything together.
• Canon 7D HDSLR with all the accessories. This new HD camera has put a truly cinematic look in the hands of indie cinematographers. It makes stunning images.
• 17″ MacBook Pro for transferring media in the field.
• Complete field sound kit including Sound Devices 3 channel mixer, Lectrosonics 400 series wireless microphones, Sennheiser 416 shotgun microphone, boom poles, spare Sennheiser mics and batteries enough to power a kit car (ask Alyssa about this).
• Interview lighting kit – Do you really want to know the names of the lights? Call me, we’ll discuss.
• Many small HD cameras and mounting kits for those hard to reach places like car hoods and sailboat masts.

Zachary and Alyssa hire out as cinematographer, director, field director, sound recordist, one-man band, editors – and we work great as a cinematographer/sound field directing team.

Timelapse Intervals

We’re getting ready to go back into the field for our last shoot on Beyond the Reef, and I just took a few moments to complile a data sheet that lists interval recording durations for some timelapse cinematography that I’ll be doing in the islands.  If you’re shooting on a camera that records to solid state media and you can set an intervelometer, you might find this info helpful.  The following is for 24p recording.  Thanks to Vortex Media for their timelapse calculator (perfect for the iPhone)- I just wanted something I could look at with a glance in the field:

Beyond the Reef

1500 years ago, ancient seafarers sailed across the Pacific and settled Hawaii, the most remote archipelago on Earth.

Captain Cook’s arrival in Hawaii in the late 1700’s marked the beginning of the decline of this sea-faring tradition.

In 1976, Captain Kavika Kapahulehua set sail on a monumental voyage from Hawaii to Tahiti in a double hulled sailing canoe, the Hokule’a.

The voyage of the Hokule’a proved to the world that ancient Polynesians were expert navigators and sparked a resurgence of canoe culture in Hawaii.

Before he passed away, Kavika instructed his nephew Kimokeo to reconnect the distant ancestral islands of the Hawaiian Archipelago.

He asked that it be done in a traditional paddling canoe.

This is the story of Kimokeo’s voyage.
